Where Is Your Trust?
This afternoon, you get called into your boss's office. You fear the worst as you make your way to sit in the chair across from him. Your boss begins to tell you how great of an employee you have have been. Your heart begins to race. He goes on to tell you that they aren't going to be able to keep you on and will be laying you off. Effective immediately. At this point your head is throbbing, your mind is racing, and your heart's about to pound out of your chest. The only question that keeps running through your mind is, "How am I going to pay the bills?"
Maybe you don't work, but you didn't get accepted into the school you had always planned to attend. You feel like your marriage is slipping away. The doctor just gave you a poor report on your health.
Be honest with yourself... what would you do? Would your prayer life (that hardly existed before) dramatically increase? Would you be in a state of constant worry? Would you stay awake at night? Would the circumstance consume your life?
This is a great test of where your trust lies.
If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, that would be a good indication that your trust is not in your Creator. Don't be too hard on yourself though because everyone struggles with this, but you have to be honest with yourself and recognize the problem so that you can fix it. Psalm 9:10 says,
"Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you."
Today, don't put your trust in your dreams, finances, relationships, or health. Trust in God because He will never forsake you!
