The Need For Weakness

Each one of us deals with some form of weakness...

You feel completely incapable of doing what God has called you to do.
You feel like your marriage is falling apart, and you don't know what else to do.
You are fighting cancer and don't know how much longer you can keep fighting.
You are somewhere between jobs and don't know what's next.

Even Paul, a man who was effectively expanding God's kingdom, faced weakness and prayed that God would take it from him. This happened three times in fact! Interestingly enough, he was answered all three times with what I'm sure he was not hoping for...

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9

Instead of removing the weakness, God essentially says to Paul, "I won't remove the weakness, but I will give you grace to bear it. I'm not giving you what you asked for, but I'm giving you what you need. The best way for my power to shine through your life is through your weakness."

Each of us has weaknesses, and those weaknesses can be opportunities for God's power and glory to shine in your life. Your weakness can be God's greatest platform. (Also, notice that God says, "My grace IS sufficient for you..." meaning we don't even have to ask for it. It already IS!)

God isn't searching for a perfect person. He's looking for you to surrender your weaknesses to Him so that His power is made perfect, and He can make your life unexplainable!
