It's Not Your Job

"Cast all your cares on Him, because He cares about you." 1 Peter 5:7

Do you ever feel like you have more problems to solve than there is time in the day?

It's so easy to get caught up in life that one thing leads to another and before long you have a pile of problems with no solutions. These problems then consume your thoughts. It could be about your finances, a phone call from family, thoughts about the future, or any number of things, that leave you asking questions like:

"How am I going to pay that?"
"How am I going to handle that situation?"
"What's my next step?"

Possibly even add on to this that you are naturally a problem solver. You love solving problems which can be a gift and at times also a weakness. You can end up spending the vast majority of my time in the car, at work, and home trying to solve these problems in your own head. As much as we don't want to admit to ourselves that this behavior is "worry," at the end of the day, it is.

Don't get me wrong, problems do have to be solved and many times it is your responsibility, but it's not your job to carry the weight! The problem with letting these thoughts be all consuming is that you miss your purpose. When you are at work, you have co-workers who need you. When you are at home, you have a family that needs you. When you are out at the grocery store, there are people around you who need you. It doesn't stop there... None of those people actually even need YOU, but they do need Christ in you, the hope of Glory.

If your mind is consumed with worry, you will be ineffective in showing the love of Christ to those around you.

I love the visual picture in this verse! "Cast your cares..."

What do you need to give up and cast on God today?
