Hit Refresh
"...but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..." Romans 12:2b
Such a small phrase that I often times have glanced over, yet I'm just now beginning to realize it's importance... "be transformed by the renewing of your mind." We as human beings, myself included, naturally gravitate toward building our ultimate happiness here on Earth. Relationships, money, possessions... When in fact, we need to stake the source of our joy elsewhere. In the things of God. When we look to our Heavenly Father for our fulfillment, we can't lose. Our joy is no longer a fleeting or temporary thing, it becomes eternal & immortal.
How do we break our natural tendencies though?
"Transform," from the passage above means: properly changing for the better. The same word used for the transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain. We have to make a change for the better by transforming or refreshing our mind. What does that mean? Our mind is the organ that God gave us to think, to choose, and to imagine the things of God. If we are not continually refreshing our minds with God's Word, then our minds will begin to wander. Where is your mind today? What are you thinking about? Are you overwhelmed with anxiety, frustration, depression, confusion, or anger? Are you just simply feeling drained and exhausted? If so, then it's time for you to hit refresh!
So here's my final question (and be honest with yourself)...
Do you currently have a non-negotiable, daily time set aside with your Savior? If not, today is the day to begin! Today is the day you can choose to hit refresh. Don't know where to start? I wrote about how to get started over here... check it out!
