Don't Just Sit There
Jesus and His disciples, along with a large crowd, were leaving a city and began to pass by a blind man named Bartimaeus who was begging on the side of the road. When Bartimaeus heard who was passing by, he cried out to Jesus. He had heard about this miracle worker who was rumored to have healed deaf ears, made the lame walk, and opened blind eyes. At first, the crowd around Jesus rebuked the beggar, but with persistence, Jesus heard the man.
"Jesus stopped and said, 'Call him.' So they called to the blind man, 'Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you.' Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus." Mark 10:49-50
Now, so many people are like Bartimaeus. They go to church but only sit there and receive. They open their Bibles and only highlight what they want to receive. But, what if it's not about what you can receive? What if it's about something God wants to do through you?
We are called to "GO into all the world." There are people who are concerned about making sure that they attend a church with a women's ministry, a church that studies Greek and Hebrew, or a church that emphasizes the study of Revelation. Don't become so concerned about what you want to receive that you miss your purpose.
Your purpose is to GO! Are you getting up each day focused on what you can receive or focused on what God can do through you?
