Beginning To Pray
What if you went to the doctor today because you weren't feeling well, and after running some tests, he diagnosed you with a condition that could take your life at any moment? The great news, though, is that the doctor can prescribe a pill to you that will keep you in great health if taken every morning and evening. The only catch is that if you miss a pill, you will die.
Would you ever forget? Absolutely not!
For most people prayer is something that gets put toward the bottom of the list, and if we get to it, then great! More than likely we tend to forget all about it, but when we do get to it and do remember, prayer can be overwhelmingly confusing!
"What should I pray for?"
"How should I pray?"
"Why am I even praying at all?"
"Am I praying properly?"
In 1 Peter 1:8, Peter talks about an "inexpressible and glorious joy." He isn't just speaking to the spiritually advanced, but to anyone who practices prayer. This overwhelming joy is attainable by everyone! If you don't seem to find this joy that Peter refers to on a somewhat regular basis, don't worry. You aren't alone (I was just as convicted). The good news is that today can become your first step toward a genuine prayer life. You can begin a conversation and encounter with God!
I want to invite you to join me on a journey over the next two weeks. Yes, life is busy. It's always busy, but like the analogy at the beginning, if you treated prayer like a pill that single handedly kept you alive, you wouldn't dare miss a day, no matter how busy you were. So I challenge you to join me on this journey over the next two weeks to dive into a conversation with your Heavenly Father.
If you say, "Yes, Landon, that's me. I'm in!" simply place your email in the box below, and hit "Let's Go!" Once you're done and confirm you want to do this, you will receive a daily email from me over the next two weeks continuing the conversation on this topic of prayer. This will be a challenge, but I'm so excited to hear the stories of life change that come from a renewed perspective on prayer!
